Kenya Police Occurrence Book goes digital

The National Police Service has launched a digital occurrence book that police will use to record statements at various stations countrywide.

Transparency in police operations

A statement from the National Police Service said that the digital system will ensure that once an entry is made into the system it cannot be edited. The digital system guarantees transparency and accountability in the police department at station level.

The NPS said that the digital System will be closely monitored by the Inspector General and top commanders as well as ward, County and regional commanders. IG Mutyambai had promised to digitize police operations, once he took office, and OB system was top on his priorities.

The IG said in his acceptance speech on April 8, 2019 that he will be keen to implement the NPS information system which digitizes the Occurrence Book and the Case File Management System to enable the public track the progress of their complaints and enable them give feedback.
