The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has issued a 30 day ultimatum to loan defaulters to repay their loans or they risk being published in the local dailies, exposing both their names and photos.
HELB issued a notice that read, “HELB wishes to inform the general public and loan defaulters that the HELB student loan is a government debt which ought to be repaid as per the terms and conditions on which it was given.”
The State Corporation has noted that legal action will be taken against loan defaulters at the expiry of the 30-day deadline. Higher Education Loans Borad has urged past beneficiaries to contact them through email@example.com for the details of their loan accounts or through USSD code *642#.
