Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has presented himself at the EACC offices in Nairobi for interrogations over his past crimes. There was great commotion as the governor arrived at the EACC headquarters. Police were forced to use tear gas to dispel Sonko’s supporters who were protesting outside the integrity centre.
Sonko was summoned by the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC) last week over allegations that he deceived the commission in his declaration form when he sought clearance to contest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat. The commission seeks to delve deeper into his past cases which are still pending.
The EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak had written a letter seeking Mike Sonko to present himself at the EACC headquarters, integrity center on November 5 to facilitate inquiries.
