Kakamega County Senator Cleophas Malala has responded to claims of his suspension threat from ANC party, the party that sponsored him to the Senate. Malala’s suspension from the party is prompted by his campaign in favor of a candidate from a rival party in the Kibra by-election, despite the fact that his party had a candidate.
During the campaigns, Malala teamed up with the ODM brigade to trumpet support for Imran Okoth instead of Eliud Owalo of ANC. Malala’s action enraged ANC stalwarts, who demanded his resignation and seek a fresh mandate via ODM’s ticket.
Addressing a press conference in Kakamega town on Saturday, infuriated Malala remained unapologetic and declared that he was ready to re-contest his seat.
The Kakamega Senator further added that ANC candidate Eliud Owalo was Ruto’s project. Malala said that he would rather resign than bending low to Mudavadi and ANC. He compared himself with Mudavadi who campaigned for ODM Presidential candidate in 2017.
