Deputy President William Ruto has mourned Kipyegon Kenei, the officer who was found dead in his Imara Daima home. Ruto has expressed his grief and dismay over the death of Sergeant Kipyegon.
DP Ruto tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the death of Police Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei who worked in my Harambee House Annex Office. Kenei was a disciplined young police officer. I urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.”
The slain police officer was among the five officers who were on duty the day Echesa and two foreigners accessed the DP’s office for the signing of the fake arms tender. He was supposed to record statement at the DCI office on Wednesday, but he didn’t show up.
DCI boss George Kinoti has revealed that the fake arms scandal may have more accomplices beyond the Kenyan border.
Mr. Kinoti told journalists on Thursday that: “I can assure you that by tomorrow (Friday) or the day after tomorrow (Saturday) you are going to hear about another company that fell victim to these fraudsters. We are going to name them.”
The deceased officer’s family has revealed that he was supposed to wed in August and wedding plans were underway.
The family demands the government to expedite investigations into the death as they refute claims that he committed suicide.
