A police officer who was on duty the day Rashid Echesa and two foreigners made their way to the office of the Deputy President was found dead in his Imara Daima residence, Nairobi.
The Administration Police Officer identified as Kipyegon Kenei went missing on Wednesday before he was found dead on Thursday. Sergeant Kipyegon was supposed to report on Wednesday to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) alongside his colleagues to record a statement regarding the fake arms deal.
Police officers who arrived at the scene ruled out any act of suicide, after realizing that the officer was a person of interest in the ongoing arms tender puzzle. Witnesses confirmed that there was a bullet hole on the roof of the slain officer’s house.
DCI boss George Kinoti arrived at the scene and urged the public not to speculate it as suicide, pending investigations to unravel the cause of his death.
