UEFA banned Manchester City from European Club competition for two seasons after the club was found culpable of “serious breaches” with regard to club licensing and financial fair play regulations.
Manchester City has been fined 30M euros. The Independent Adjudicatory Chamber of the club Financial and Control Body (CFB) stated that the reigning England Premier League Champions had broken the rules by “overstating its sponsorship revenue in its accounts and in the break-even information submitted to Uefa between 2012 and 2016.”
In a quick rejoinder, Manchester City reacted by saying that they were “disappointed but not surprised” and described it as “prejudicial”. Manchester City has vowed to appeal the decision.
The probe started after allegations were published by Germany magazine Der Spiegel in November 2018, which based on documents sourced from whistleblowers Football Leaks.
