ODM leader Raila Odinga was among the few dignitaries who spoke at Moi’s funeral service held at Kabarak grounds. The firebrand opposition leader used the occasion to hit those terming the Kenyattas, Mois and Odingas family as dynasties. His sentiments were apparently directed to the Deputy President William Ruto.
“Let no one intimidate you, No one chose where to be born so let’s stop talking about dynasties because we are all struggling like Kenyans and everyone has a right to vie for whatever seat. Don’t let anyone intimidate you with the dynasty talk,” Raila said.
Raila Odinga added that, “The late Jaramogi, just like the late Kenyatta, came from poverty. Nobody can talk about dynasty because they struggled. Don’t think that Uhuru, Gideon and I are entitled to certain privileges because our fathers were something.”
Raila Odinga emulated his father Jaramogi and mourned Moi in a true African style with fly whisk and sang, “Yawa paru uru loo..loo wang’e tek.. ee wuoyi gima ichamo ee mari, gima odong’o to kik igen..jowi jowi.”
