Uganda President Yoweri Museveni was among a host of foreign dignitaries who attended the funeral service of the late former Presdent Daniel Arap Moi at Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday.
Museveni applauded the efforts played by Kenya leaders for maintaining peace and stability in the country. He lauded Kenya’s independence heroes such as Moi and Ngala who dissolved KADU to join KANU for the sake of national unity.
The Ugandan leader praised Moi for the enormous role he played for the integration of East African Countries. Museveni said that Kenyans were lucky to have leaders like Moi and singled out patriotism and love for the East African region as qualities that should be emulated by other African leaders.
Museveni ignited laughter when he said that when someone is dead he is either forgotten or remembered for his deeds like the biblical ‘pontius Pilato kumnyonga yesu’.
Museveni caused the crowd to burst into laughter by saying that, “Leaders are like doctors who have the ability to diagnose what is ailing the country. Kenyans have enjoyed peace since independence. The slight clashes were just a joke compared to what other countries have witnessed.”
