Police officers who were captured on phone camera beating a JKUAT student have been interdicted. IG Hillary Mutyambai confirmed that the uniformed officers have been identified and served with interdiction letters. The officers were drawn from Juja and Makongeni police stations.
The brutality meted to the rioting students got the attention of Interior CS Fred Matiangi and Police IG Hillary Mutyambai who ordered the internal affairs unit to probe the matter.
Social media users castigated the excessive force that the police meted on JKUAT students, who were striking over the rise of insecurity around the institution, and demanded for the dismissal of those rogue officers. The institution has been indefinitely closed.
